Jewellery Care

It’s important to remember that your jewellery is not indestructible and will require a level of care to keep it looking it’s best. Each finished piece of jewellery will come with full care instructions.

Protect your jewellery from perfumes, hairsprays, harsh cleaning products, acetone, hair dye and other chemical contact - continued exposure can damage the gemstone/precious metal.

Please take care to remove rings if you are planning to do any manual work (for example weightlifting, gardening, using heavy tools etc.) as this can also cause damage to your jewellery.

Remove your jewellery before washing your hands, showering, bathing and swimming.

Sterling Silver Jewellery

Silver tarnish is a natural process where the silver begins to dull, and can develop a yellow/dark/black colour. Regular care can really slow down the tarnishing process and keep your jewellery looking like new.

I recommend using a silver polishing cloth (which is impregnated with a little polishing compound) regularly on your jewellery to keep it clean. Gentle pressure and a buffing motion will help to shine it up.

If your jewellery is heavily tarnished, get in touch. I do offer a polishing service which will remove the layers of tarnish and freshen up your jewellery.

Resin Jewellery

I understand how important your finished jewellery is to you, which is why I provide printed care instructions with each piece.

The cremation ashes are encapsulated in a jewellers grade resin. Resin does gradually age and can become slightly yellower over time - unfortunately this is standard for any resin product. However, following the care instructions I provide will keep your jewellery looking it’s best for years to come.

I advise that you take care to:

  • Remove your jewellery before applying perfume, hairspray, sun cream, lotions, hand sanitiser, nail polish remover, using harsh cleaning products etc

  • Avoid submerging your jewellery in water and remove it before washing your hands, showering, bathing, swimming etc

  • Avoid wearing your jewellery to the gym/while exercising

  • Avoid exposing your jewellery to excessive heat

  • Store your jewellery in a safe place out of direct sunlight - prolonged exposure to UV (direct sunlight/tanning beds etc) can cause your resin to lose stability and soften or discolour

I put a lot of love, care and attention into every piece I make - and I appreciate how important these keepsakes are to you. I cannot be held responsible for jewellery that has been damaged by improper care and failure to follow the care guidelines.

If you have had an accident and are worried that you have ruined your jewellery, feel free to get in touch and I will see what I can do to repair it for you, if possible. There will be a charge for this, but it will be decided on a case to case basis.
